Shops & Food

Homestead Craft Village showcases the work of community of craftsmen who have returned, not to the past, but to the enduring values exemplified in handcraftsmanship. True craft requires more than skill: it expresses the craftsmen’s care and concern, their personal investment in everything they do. Visit the shops of our crafts village, watch our craftsmen work, even attend classes to learn craft skills and, in all this, experience with our craftsmen the joy and fulfillment of returning to craft, the art of work.

Artisan Spotlight

Caleb Nolen operates the blacksmith forge at Homestead Heritage. Growing up, he tried his hand at a number of trades before settling down with the one he loves: blacksmithing. His pursuits in blacksmithing have taken him to learn the fine art of axe-making in Sweden.

Nolen’s unique blacksmith skills and other are on display each day at Homestead Heritage. When you come by the forge, Nolen will likely be there creating a knife, axe or an exquisite metal antler set, and he’ll be happy to show you the process.

The Barn

An 1820s restored antique barn once used to store hay is now full of one-of-a-kind handcrafted items from our community’s artisans: soaps, hand-turned wooden bowls, rocking chairs, hand-quilted quilts, and more.
